Ahmet Özsoy became a martyr while resisting traitors of the FETÖ terror organization during the July 15 coup attempt at Türksat’s Gölbaşı campus. Ahmet Özsoy’s mother Arife and his father Tahsin Özsoy stated that the only thing that gives them comfort is their son being a "heroic" martyr.
Tahsin Özsoy (86), the father of martyr Ahmet Özsoy who spoke to Anadolu Ajansı (AA), said that his son had been working as the Managing Director of Türksat Facilities at the time and in order to prevent attacks on the facility by the coup plotters he displayed immense bravery. Tahsin Özsoy said, “My son learned that the coup plotters were going to occupy Türksat, along with a personnel they closed the road to Türksat with heavy machinery. The traitors later came by helicopter, asking them to cut off all the broadcasts.”
Özsoy continued by saying a few words about the cowardly coup plotters who attempted the coup on July 15th:
“This is not the end of them. They have worked for 40 years to carry out this task. They have infiltrated the army. They have infiltrated everywhere. Therefore, we have to carefully eradicate them. I trust the state; the state knows best. We only have our prayer; which we do all the time.”
"Our prime minister's visit made us proud"
Explaining that the sadness of losing a child is not pain to be tolerated, Özsoy used the following expressions:
"God loved him more than we did. He gave him the martyrdom rank. We comfort ourselves knowing he has become a martyr; otherwise, it is not bearable pain. I am proud to be the father of a martyr. Our prime minister came to visit us. Our prime minister's visit made us proud. Our prime minister said, 'How lucky you are, you are a martyr's mother and father.' For this, I am happy. The only thing that gives me comfort is my son being a heroic martyr.”
Arife Özsoy (76) expressed her pride in her son and added, "My son is martyr. We are happy and proud. However, this pain is not a pain to bear. For those who have martyred my son, Allah will call them to account. We do not have the strength to bear; we are coping with it by praying.”
Ahmet Özsoy, age 49 and father of two children, became a martyr at the cost of his life during the coup attempt of 15 July by defending Türksat along with his colleagues against the coup plotters who tried to seize Türksat. The traitorous coup plotters who came to Türksat to cut off the broadcasts of all television channels could not reach their goals due to the heroism of Özsoy and his colleagues.
