Turkish Parliamentary Speaker Mustafa Şentop paid a visit to Türksat Gölbaşı Headquarters. Transport and Infrastructure Minister Cahit Turhan, Transport and Infrastructure Deputy Minister Ömer Fatih Sayan, Türksat Chairman of the Board Kemal Yüksek and Türksat CEO Cenk Şen welcomed Şentop, who was there to pay a visit to Türksat’s headquarters, which was one of the targets of the Fetullah Terror Organization (FETÖ) during the treacherous coup attempt of July 15th.

After expressing his hope that Turkey may never experience a coup attempt ever again, Parliamentary Speaker Mustafa Şentop said the following, “Whoever has the same intention will be subjected to the same violent response of the public similar to the one of July 15th.”

After praying in front of the Türksat Martyrs Monument, Cenk Şen gave an account to Şentop of the events that unfolded at Türksat on the night of July 15th. After visitıng the July 15th exhibition area and museum, Şentop later at a press release stressed that the treacherous coup attempt of July 15th be remembered and reminded every day, especially on its anniversary.

Şentop went onto say that although Turkey had experienced such things in the past, the coup attempt of July 15th  was the most bloody, atrocious and treacherous one of them all. He continued:

Türksat was one of the most important targets of this coup attempt. Because we can see that in order for their plans to be realized, they wanted to take over Türksat, where radio and television signals are overseen. Thanks to our heroic employees, they could not achieve such a goal. We have two martyrs Ali Karslı and Ahmet Özsoy. I ask God to have mercy on them, I pray for patience for their families.

Şentop stated that he saw the destruction caused to Türksat and underlined the importance of preserving these places in order to show and explain to the next generations the betrayal that took place.

The coup attempt, under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was overthrown by individuals who took to the streets in order to protect the state and government. Şentop noted that he hoped Turkey never go through such an event from here on, and for those individuals with the same intention they will be subjected to the same violent response of the public similar to the one of July 15th.
