As part of the Satellite Industry Leader Awards at the 3rd Global SatShow, Türksat received the “Industry Influencer of the Year” award.

Şen, during his speech at the summit stated that the satellite industry has undergone changes, and conveyed that new innovations and new business techniques have yielded as a result. He noted:

“We as a company must adapt our institutions according to the changing world. Otherwise, it is not possible for us to survive, our companies will not survive if we do not adapt to this change. In the satellite field we were just trying to sell capacity. This is not enough anymore. New services have to be introduced to attract customers. Satellite companies must work on providing new value added services. We are focusing on this in the long term. In the future, the broadcast capacity of satellites for Internet of Things (IoT) will become more of an affordable and convenient solution. Satellites will be one of the most important components of communication in the future.”

Also, at the summit this year critical market concerns and negative trends were discussed. At the summit where the future of satellite operators was discussed, CEO’s discussed topics concerning negative market trends and solutions against the pressure that competition creates against prices, cooperation between small scale and big scale operators and the opportunities that will derive from opening up to new markets, as well as the role of regulators in the satellite market.
